Supporting our young people
Work experience
As an authority we like to be able to support local community schools with work experience placements for students. We regularly take part in providing valuable experience to students in areas that support their interests and career choices as they move forward.
If you would be interested in organising a placement with us, please contact our Organisational Development Team (human.resources@northdevon.gov.uk). Please be sure to let us know the dates you would like us to support and also the area of particular interest.
T-level placements
We provide T-level placements where we are able to match student requirements with service delivery and work with our local college, Petroc, to provide opportunities where available.
Sponsored internships
In addition to working in conjunction with Petroc, we look for opportunities to support sponsored internships which provide opportunities for students who may have additional needs to gain valuable work experience.
Career talks
We are able to provide advice on careers in Local Government as well as information on interview technique either within schools or at our offices.
We also visit the Job Centre in Barnstaple and offer their clients training in interview skills and how to apply to the council and support their job fairs.
