What goes in your bin, box or bag?

A guide for what you should put in your bins, boxes, caddies and bags

Garden waste (green wheelie bins)

Green wheelie bin used for garden waste

This is an optional, paid, service. You can apply for the Garden Waste collections online

The following items can go in your green wheelie bin:

  • Real Christmas trees - chopped up
  • Bark
  • Hedge clippings
  • Grass cuttings
  • Weeds
  • Cut flowers
  • Plants (no soil)
  • Windfalls
  • Untreated sawdust
  • Wood shavings
  • Clean straw

Do not put food waste in your green wheelie bin, use the kerbside caddy instead.

Ensure the lid on your wheelie bin can close properly, waste must be placed loosely inside green bins, it must not be placed in a compostable or plastic bag. We are unable to empty Garden Waste bins with any items other than garden waste in them.
