North Devon Council in partnership with Devon County Council, and Home Farm Marsh Volunteers are inviting the local community to participate in a volunteer day at Fremington Cuttings on Saturday, 9 September.

From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, volunteers are encouraged to immerse themselves in the vital task of clearing recently cut vegetation. This crucial activity serves as a stepping stone to nurturing the growth of vibrant wildflowers in the coming year, enhancing the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing for the outdoor activity, keeping in mind the weather conditions. Sturdy footwear is essential. In addition, volunteers are recommended to bring along a drink and lunch.

Lead Member for Climate and Biodiversity, Councillor Ricky Knight, says: "Caring for the environment within our communities is a collective responsibility - and can be great fun! Please join us as we roll up our sleeves and get stuck into clearing vegetation to create a vibrant tapestry of wildflowers to bloom. This hands-on chance to volunteer will not only enhance our surroundings but will also nurture biodiversity. We hope to see you there!"

To secure a spot for the event, interested volunteers are requested to book their participation by sending an email to the council's parks team - parks@northdevon.gov.uk. Free parking is available at Fremington Quay.
