Public open space at Seven Brethren in Barnstaple is set to be improved thanks to a £65,000 funding injection.
North Devon Council's Strategy and Resources committee approved the release of Section 106 funds at its meeting on Monday, 2 December.
The funds will be used to provide a new cycle and pedestrian path which will link the new Seven Brethren long stay car park to facilities at Tarka Leisure Centre. The proposed path will be subject to planning approval.
The project will be funded by developer contributions from the Tawcroft development at Larkbear.
Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor David Clayton, said: "I am pleased to see this funding being used to generate improvements to public open space in Barnstaple. The new cycle and pedestrian path will make it easier and safer for residents and visitors to access leisure facilities and I look forward to seeing it take shape."
Under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, contributions can be sought from developers towards the costs of providing extra community and social infrastructure as a result of the impact of new development in the area. These contributions can only be used for certain things, and are used primarily for public open space projects.
