Tickets for the new North Devon Community Lottery are on sale ahead of the first weekly draw.
The lottery has been set up by North Devon Council as a way for local charities and good causes across North Devon to raise money. There are more than 65 good causes on board ahead of the first draw, including local charities, sports clubs and community groups.
The first North Devon Community Lottery draw takes place at 8pm on Saturday, 6 April. Tickets are available to buy online on the North Devon Community Lottery website at a cost of £1 each, and winners can scoop a top prize of £25,000.
To celebrate the launch, there’s a special first-draw bonus prize up for grabs. Anyone with a ticket for the first draw will automatically be in with a chance of winning a three-course meal for two at The Park Hotel in Barnstaple. Following the first round, draws will take place weekly thereafter.
For every £1 ticket bought, 60p will go to good causes in North Devon. Players will have the option to support a good cause with each ticket they buy. Their chosen cause will receive 50p while a further 10p will go a central fund that will be distributed to good causes. The remaining 40p goes towards prize money and running costs.
Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor Ian Roome, says: "We've established the North Devon Community Lottery as a way for good causes to raise essential funds and it has been incredible to see so many good causes get on board.
"When buying a ticket for the lottery you are supporting North Devon - it's that simple. I wish all those with tickets for the first draw and thereafter the very best of luck and a big thank you for taking part."
