Ilfracombe is set to benefit from a substantial funding boost of just over £87,000, aimed at enhancing community amenities. The development is the result of a decision made during North Devon Council's Strategy and Resources Committee meeting, which took place on Monday, 2 October.
The allocated funds will be used for the construction of new play equipment along Ilfracombe seafront. This project is designed to provide a vibrant new play environment for the children and families of the local community.
Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor Ian Roome, says: "I am pleased to see Ilfracombe benefitting from this significant S106 funding. The funding initiative reflects a shared vision, to make Ilfracombe an even more attractive and family-friendly destination. I look forward to seeing the forthcoming transformations."
Under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, contributions can be sought from developers towards the costs of providing extra community and social infrastructure as a result of the impact of new development in the area. These contributions can only be used for certain things, and are used primarily for public open space projects.
