Good causes across North Devon are being encouraged to attend the launch event of the North Devon Community Lottery for their chance to get a share of the ticket proceeds.
The North Devon Community Lottery is set to launch in the new year, with 50% of ticket proceeds going to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups, and the remainder being put towards prizes and operating costs
Organisations and good causes interested in taking part can attend the launch event at Barnstaple Library on Wednesday, 24 January 2024, where they can find out more about fundraising through the lottery. The event, which starts at 2.30pm, has been organised in partnership with North Devon Voluntary Services.
Following the event, tickets for North Devon Community Lottery will go on sale on 20 February 2024.
North Devon Council has appointed leading lottery management company Gatherwell to operate the lottery. Gatherwell have successfully launched similar lotteries throughout the UK, including in Exeter, North Somerset and Teignbridge.
North Devon Council Leader, Councillor Ian Roome, says: "The money raised by North Devon Community Lottery is going to make a lot of difference to our amazing local voluntary and community organisations. We'd encourage all charities and community groups to attend the launch event for good causes and start fundraising with our lottery - it's easy and is completely free.
"We are proud to work in partnership with North Devon Voluntary Services for the launch event to ensure as many causes as possible can benefit from the support of lottery players when tickets go on sale in February."
Gatherwell's General Manager, Phil Wright, says: "We are delighted that Gatherwell has been awarded the opportunity to deliver the North Devon Community Lottery. We're looking forward to working with North Devon Council to raise funds for many amazing good causes."
You can register to attend the good cause launch event via Eventbrite.
