If you own an empty property you can rent it out with a little help from us through our Private Sector Lease Scheme (PSLS).
We are particularly looking for properties in Barnstaple, South Molton and Ilfracombe especially those on a bus route.
Properties must be unfurnished, in a good condition and with adequate heating to be considered for the scheme. There must also be demand for the size of property that you have to offer.
By renting your property through the scheme you will be helping us provide temporary accommodation for people in housing need.

Your responsibilities as a landlord
To find out more about the scheme the next step is to arrange a visit by one of our Temporary Accommodation Officers. This is to find out what, if anything, needs to be done to the property to bring it up to our letting and safety standard.
You can do this by phoning 01271 388870 or emailing housingoptions@northdevon.gov.uk
Please be aware if disrepair or defects of a serious nature are discovered on inspection, we will be duty bound to take appropriate enforcement action, even if the lease is subsequently not taken up. This is defined in part one of the Housing Act 2004 and any works subsequently required to make the property safe will be at the expense of the owner.
