Important Dates

Deadline for submitting electoral registration applications: 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June
Deadline for submitting new postal vote applications: 5pm Wednesday 19 June
Deadline to change or cancel existing absent vote arrangements: 5pm Wednesday 19 June

An Election is to be held of One Member of Parliament for North Devon.
Nomination papers can be obtained from the offices of the Acting Returning Officer, Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG, who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG on any day after the date of this notice on Monday to Friday between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 7th June 2024.
The £500 deposit can be paid by legal tender or by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as banker in the United Kingdom or with the Acting Returning Officer’s consent, by electronic transfer of funds using BACS or a debit card.
If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 4th July 2024.
Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 18th June 2024. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
New applications to vote by post, and amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes or proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at by 5 pm on Wednesday, 19th June 2024. You may apply online or download a form at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote or contact the Electoral Registration Office direct.
Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 26th June 2024. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th June 2024. You can find information and dependent upon your proxy type apply online at https://www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/voting-by-proxy
Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Thursday, 4th July 2024. The physical incapacity or work/service reason must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th June 2024.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that due to the resignation of Cllr. Gemma Bacon, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Parish Council.

If by 22 July 2024 (14 days excluding Dies Non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
