We have been working with Torridge District Council to prepare a new development plan document (DPD) for northern Devon. Once adopted it will carry similar weight to the new Local Plan and will identify sufficient sites for permanent pitches and transit sites to meet the future needs of the travelling community. A scoping document (753 KB) was published in September 2016.

Working together we have identified potentially available sites through a ‘call for sites’ (138 KB). The suitability of these available sites for permanent pitches and as transit sites is set out in the Traveller Site Assessment (14,708 KB). A draft joint traveller site allocations DPD is planned for 2020.

The level of future needs (1,91 MB) up to 2034 has also been established in partnership with other councils in Devon.
