The historic Barnstaple Pannier Market closed it doors in January 2023 for extensive works as part of the town's Market Quarter regeneration project. The market reopened it's doors on Tuesday 1 August.
The most extensive works were to the roof of the market, including new lead gutters throughout. The timbers in the market needed a lot of attention and some had decayed, so it has been a real labour of love to repair them - but now that they're fixed and repainted it looks wonderful.
We've also added stunning glazed doors in the arches which lead onto Butchers Row, enhancing comfort for market visitors and offering passers-by a sneak peek inside this vibrant hub of activity! All of these improvements mean a more secure, weather-proofed, safe and warm building for us all to enjoy for many more years to come.
Come and support your local traders while enjoying the revitalised space. Our opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 9am until 4pm.
