The Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy applies to all licensed drivers, vehicles, and operators.

The policy is intended to ensure that both the trade and the public have a document that fully explains our licensing requirements in context for all parties in a clear and transparent manner.

We are consulting on proposed amendments to Appendix H of the North Devon Council Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy, ‘Guidelines relating to the relevance of convictions’.

The proposed changes will update the policy, increase the robustness of our approach and procedure in respect of periodic checks on enhanced disclosures, give clear guidelines, be transparent, reassure licence holders, applicants, stakeholders, and members of the public.

The consultation is open to the members of the taxi and private hire licensing trade, public and stakeholders from 11 November to 23 December 2019.

Any comments, objections and proposed revisions to the North Devon Council Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy, will be presented to the Licensing and Safety Committee on a future date to be decided.
